Is my art hard for you to appreciate? One way to handle this question is by dissociating the technique from the result. The technique is developed by the artist. It includes a vocabulary and a set of skills and tools to facilate the work. It is a personal effort. And for some people, this part can appear as being esoteric. How was this produced? What is the trick? It's crazy! The other part is the result. How do you feel about the art? This part comes from the heart. For some people, the piece can be beautiful. Others may not feel anything about it, or may not like it at all. And it's OK.

My great-grandfather was a painter named Franz Courtens. As a child, I was surrounded by his paintings. It's a bit like I grew up in an art museum. This influenced me a lot. I am greatful to him and also to my parents for this. This photograph shows a portrait of him painted by his son Herman Courtens who was also a painter. A few generations later, here I am, enjoying modular art... The style is no longer classical but the passion for art was definitely transmitted. I never met him in person but I can feel him in my heart.
Moiré patterns get created by sculpting with grids. Fringes change with the angle of view, providing interesting vibrations. Can you feel them?
This picture shows an old sculpture of mine, a woman made in clay, in front of a new one, a geometric composition created in paper. My art has evolved quite a bit and it's ok. And hopefully, it will remain open.
